For those of you who are already working with me, I hope the following information will clarify a number of important issues related to our work together and that it will help us identify and discuss potential problems before they arise. Although some of these issues deal with potentially anxiety-provoking subjects, it is important that you consider them carefully and if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to bring them to my attention.
Contact information and availability:
The best and fastest way to reach me will be via email: drdspeakman@aol.com. I also have a confidential phone line (617-895-8197), whose voicemail I check once a day. I am not able to receive texts on that line. If you need my attention quickly, an email is a faster way to reach me than a voicemail.
Sessions:
The length of each session is 45 minutes. If you find that this is not enough time, I offer multiple sessions per week, so increasing our meeting frequency is always an option we can discuss.
Late cancellation:
I require 72 hours advance notice in order to cancel a session. These late cancellation fees are usually uncomfortable when they given, and I hope we will be able to talk through any feelings that come up in respect to this fee. If you cancel your session within the 72 hour time frame (3 days ahead), I will charge you the full fee I receive for your treatment. This means that if you use insurance to reimburse any portion of your therapy, I cannot bill insurance for a late cancellation and you will be responsible for the full fee. For example, if your fee is 200, and your insurance reimburses you usually for 100 of that amount, your late cancellation will be the full 200.

I know that insurance is complicated and frustrating. I will work with you to help you with any paperwork or other requirements that come with using insurance as reimbursement, but I also ask that you be an active participant in insurance so that we can both be informed about your plan.

At the end of each month, I will let you know the amount of your bill for that month. You are expected to pay your bill within the following 30 days. I am a small business, so I appreciate check or cash payment, but if need be, I also accept credit card payments as well.
